It was a Tuesday night last spring when my golden retriever Benny decided to help himself to an entire pound of browning ground beef while I answered the door for my oldest’s forgotten soccer cleats. That’s when I knew my kitchen needed better boundaries.

Three kids, one small kitchen, and a perpetually hungry dog taught me that dinner doesn’t have to be complicated to be good. I’m Margaret, and I’ve turned weeknight chaos into my specialty.

My 20-Minute Philosophy

After years of racing between soccer practice pickups and homework battles, I’ve learned something important: families shouldn’t have to choose between convenience and flavor. My slow cooker (I call it ‘the lifesaver’) runs almost constantly, and I can whip up a one-bowl meal that actually tastes like I spent hours on it.

I measure with handfuls, not measuring cups. I’m not ashamed of pre-shredded cheese if it gets dinner on the table faster. Real cooking is about feeding the people you love without losing your sanity.
